What do house cleaners do, and how do you book one?
A house cleaner on a regular visit covers the kitchen, bathrooms, floors, dusting and a general reset of living areas and bedrooms. Kitchens include benches, splashbacks, sinks, taps and appliance exteriors. Bathrooms include toilets, showers, screens, basins, mirrors and floors. All floors are vacuumed and mopped.
A regular clean does not normally include laundry, washing up, inside the oven or fridge, tidying of personal belongings, or exterior windows. Those tasks are available but are quoted separately, because adding them silently to a maintenance clean means something else is skipped. A one-off deep clean does cover them, which is why it takes longer and costs more per visit.
Most Sydney households book a house cleaner weekly or fortnightly, and a one-off deep clean is a complete booking in its own right with nothing owing afterwards. Clean Best assigns the same police-checked cleaner to each home, brings its own equipment and products, and confirms a fixed price in writing within 24 hours. Call 1300 494 983.

The detail
A house cleaner you stop having to manage
There is a particular kind of tiredness that comes from managing your own cleaner. What house cleaners Sydney households actually want is not just a clean house — it is not having to think about the clean house. No notes on the bench. No apologetic text on a Tuesday night. No standing in the kitchen explaining, for the fourth time, that the good pan does not go in the dishwasher.
Almost all of that comes down to a single decision: whether the same person comes back.
Continuity is the entire product
A cleaner who has been in your house eight times knows the tap that marks, the floor that streaks, the room that is not in scope, and the dog. A different person every fortnight is starting from zero, and no amount of checklist can substitute for that. It is why we assign one cleaner to a home and keep them there, and why, if your regular cleaner is away, the relief has been walked through your house notes before they arrive rather than handed an address.
Getting the frequency honest
Fortnightly suits most households. Weekly earns its place when there are young children, a shedding pet, a large house relative to the number of people in it, or simply when week two is unbearable to you. Here is the test we give people: if you find yourself tidying before the cleaner arrives because you are embarrassed, you are on the wrong frequency. Tell us, and we will change it — including changing it down, which happens more often than you would expect.
What we do, and what we deliberately do not
We clean. We do not tidy your belongings, do the laundry, wash up what is in the sink, or move personal items to clean under them. That is not laziness; it is the line that keeps a cleaning service from becoming an argument. Ovens, fridge interiors, internal windows and inside cupboards are all available, and they are quoted as additions — because folding them silently into a two-hour visit simply means the bathroom gets less time.
Deep cleans are a different animal
If your house has got away from you, a maintenance clean will not fix it, and any company that says it will is going to disappoint you. A deep clean is its own job with its own scope: skirtings, door frames, window tracks, tile grout, inside cupboards, and everything that a fortnightly visit is never given time to reach. It takes far longer and it is quoted as a one-off. Plenty of people book one and never book anything else, and that is a perfectly reasonable way to use us.
Access, keys and trust
Most clients are not home when we clean. We agree an access arrangement at the first visit — a key, a lockbox, a code — and it is recorded and used only by your cleaner. Every cleaner is police-checked before their first shift and covered by $20m public liability. If something is ever broken, you will hear it from us before you notice it yourself, which is the only version of that conversation worth having.
How to start
Ring 1300 494 983 and describe the house: bedrooms, bathrooms, floors, pets, and whether you want us regularly or once. Most homes we can price from a good description; the larger or unusual ones we will come and see, at no charge. Either way, you get a fixed figure in writing within 24 hours, with the scope room by room, and you can pause or stop with a week’s notice.
What's included
What a regular home clean covers
The standard scope for a Sydney house or apartment. Deep cleans and one-offs go considerably further — that scope is written separately.
- Clean kitchen benches, splashbacks, sinks, taps and cupboard fronts
- Wipe appliance exteriors — fridge, oven front, microwave, dishwasher, kettle
- Clean and disinfect toilets, showers, screens, baths, basins, taps and mirrors
- Scrub bathroom floors and wipe down tiled surfaces and shower niches
- Vacuum all carpet, rugs and soft flooring, including edges and under reachable furniture
- Mop all hard floors and spot-clean marks on tiles, timber and vinyl
- Dust surfaces, shelves, sills, skirtings, picture frames and light fittings within reach
- Make beds and reset bedrooms — surfaces cleared, cushions and throws straightened
- Empty all household bins and replace liners
- Wipe internal door handles, light switches and other touchpoints
- Clean internal glass, mirrors and sliding door panels for fingerprints
- Tidy and wipe down the entry and hallway, including mats and thresholds
- Remove cobwebs from ceiling corners and cornices within reach
- Leave the vacuum, mop and cloths with us — you supply nothing at all
Laundry, washing up, oven and fridge interiors, inside cupboards, exterior windows and ladder work sit outside a regular clean. Most can be added and are quoted separately.
Pricing
What a house cleaner costs, based on your house and not on an hourly rate
Bedrooms, bathrooms, floor types, pets and frequency. That is what drives the work. You get a fixed figure per visit — or one number for a one-off deep clean — and it does not go up because the house was worse than expected on the day.
Apartment or unit
One to two bedrooms, one bathroom, mostly hard floors — a unit, townhouse or small terrace.
- Weekly or fortnightly, same cleaner every visit
- Kitchen, bathroom, floors and dusting throughout
- Beds made and surfaces reset, not just wiped
- All equipment and products brought with us
One number, agreed in writing before we start.
Family home
Three or four bedrooms, two bathrooms, a mix of carpet and hard floors, and usually children or pets.
- Weekly or fortnightly, with a rotation for the deeper tasks
- Two bathrooms and the kitchen done properly every visit
- Pet hair on soft furnishings treated as part of the job
- Oven, fridge and internal windows available as add-ons
One number, agreed in writing before we start.
One-off deep clean
A spring clean, a house being prepared for sale or guests, or a place that has simply got away from you.
- A single visit with its own written scope
- Skirtings, door frames, tracks, tiles and grout included
- Inside cupboards, oven and fridge on request
- No obligation to book anything afterwards
One number, agreed in writing before we start.

How it works
How to book a house cleaner

Describe the house
Call 1300 494 983 with bedrooms, bathrooms, floor types, pets, and whether you want regular visits or one clean.
- 2
We quote, usually without a visit
Houses are straightforward enough to price from a good description. Larger or unusual homes we will come and see.
- 3
A fixed price in writing
Within 24 hours, with the scope listed room by room and any add-ons priced separately rather than assumed.
- 4
The same cleaner, every visit
One police-checked cleaner assigned to your home, who learns it. Access agreed at the first visit and recorded.
FAQ
What Sydney households ask before booking a house cleaner
What people ask before they hand a stranger a key to their house.
Do I get the same cleaner each time?
Yes, and it is the whole point. A cleaner who has been in your house eight times knows which tap marks, where the vacuum lives, that the spare room is not in scope and that the dog is friendly. A different person each fortnight is starting from nothing every time, which is why rotating-pool cleaning always feels slightly wrong even when nothing is technically missed. If your regular cleaner is away, the relief has been briefed on your house first.
Do I need to be home while you clean?
No, and most clients are not. We agree an access arrangement at the first visit — a key, a lockbox, a smart lock code, or a neighbour — and it is recorded and used only by your cleaner. Plenty of people are home and simply work in another room; that is fine too. What we ask is that you tell us about the dog, the alarm and anything you would rather we did not touch.
Weekly or fortnightly — which do I need?
Fortnightly suits most households. Weekly is worth it if you have young children, pets that shed, a big house relative to the number of people in it, or you simply hate the state of the place in week two. A useful test: if you find yourself doing a “quick tidy” before the cleaner arrives because you are embarrassed, you are on the wrong frequency. We would rather move you than have you quietly resent it.
Can I book a house cleaner for one visit only?
Yes, and it is a completely legitimate way to use us. A one-off deep clean, a house that has got away from you, a place being prepared for guests or for sale, or a post-renovation clean once the builders are gone. It is quoted as a single job with its own scope, it takes considerably longer than a maintenance clean, and there is no expectation that you book anything afterwards.
Do you bring your own equipment and products?
Yes — vacuum, mop, cloths and products, all of it. If you prefer we use your own products because of an allergy, a surface, or a strong preference, leave them out and tell us; we will use yours instead without any fuss. If anyone in the house is sensitive to fragrance, say so at the first visit and we will switch to unscented across the board rather than just in one room.
What is not included in a regular home clean?
We do not do laundry, dishes left in the sink, tidying of personal belongings, inside the oven, inside the fridge, windows on the outside, or anything requiring a ladder above standard reach. Several of those can be added — ovens, fridge interiors and internal windows are common additions — but they are quoted, because folding them silently into a two-hour clean means something else gets skipped.
What decides what a house cleaner costs in Sydney?
It depends on bedrooms, bathrooms, floor types, whether there are pets, and how often we come — a three-bedroom house cleaned fortnightly is not the same job as the same house cleaned quarterly, because six weeks of dust is a different problem. A one-off deep clean costs more per visit than a regular one, because it covers ground a regular clean has been holding all year. We quote from a description or a short visit, give you a fixed figure in writing, and it does not change because the house was worse than expected on the day.
